SCARY NIGHTMARE

Go back

I know this isn't like an opinion on something but I do want to share this experiance with the world.

I've been learning to drive recently and I am nearly finished the required driving lessons needed to take a test in my country. Last night, I was out drinking and when I finally went to bed I had a horrible nightmare.

I was driving coming up to a roundabout. The road split into two lanes before the roundabout. One for people going the first exit and one for the people going the other exits. As I was coming up to the roundabout, I was in the left lane as I was going to take the first exit. There was a car beside me on the right lane who was a bit ahead of me. They pulled off into the roundabout, and then it happened.

Another car came around the roundabout and crashed into the car pulling out. My memory is a bit blurry but the next thing I can remember is a boy covered in blood getting out of the back of the passenger side of the car crying in severe pain. Even though the car was struck on the driver's side the passener side had no doors so I could see everything inside. I know, dream logic. Inside I could see a father, who I think might have had his legs crushed, screaming in pain, and the screaming got worse when he saw the other son, directly behind him uncontious and covered in blood aswell. I think he might have been dead.

The dad started screaming for someone to help the boy behind him and the moment felt so sureal. All I can remember is looking up out of my window to the car crash, and looking down into my laps. Then looking up and down again. I couldn't bear to look but I also couldn't look away. As the screams got louder and worse, and I kept looking up and down, I felt this wave of anxiety. My heart kept getting faster, and faster and faster. I've never had a panic attack before but I think this is what was happening to me in my dream. I woke up and felt so relieved that it wasn't real but the drink made me quickly forget why I woke up and why I couldn't get to sleep again. I only remembered again in the morning what happened to my in my dream.

I'm writing this the same day I had this dream. I don't know how I will feel the next time I have to drive. It doesn't help that the roundabout that this dream took place in is one I often have to go through. It scared me so bad I vow to never be in a car crash. Maybe if we could figure out simulations we could put people in the same position as I was in to scare them away from dangerous driving.
